THE 5TH CHARITY RIDE

To let everyone know what is happening this year (2008)

The ride is ON for the 28st of June and Everyone is welcome...

There are some slight changes at the Blackpool end.
This year the MAG rally are coming to meet us at the NORTH-END and the Prom ride will start from there.
There is also a change of venue for the MAG rally, I don't know yet just where but as soon as I do, it will be published, along with a poster (Now being designed)
I will be in constant contact with MAG (Blackpool)

Someone local to us has been spreading a rumour that this rally is not going to take place.
(IGNORE IT !! IT IS)

June 23rd 2007 Our 4th Charity Ride

This is our 4th charity ride to Blackpool and again we joined up with the MAG rally to cruise the Prom.
We started to gather for the beginning of the ride at Daniel Street Whitworth about 08:00am, the weather a little overcast but hey, the butty van is with us !!

The next two hours saw friends old and new arriving to join us, lots to catch up with old friends and great to greet new ones, surely this is what biking is all about ?

People came from far and near, it was also good to meet people who we had spoken too on different Mcc website's (NCMCC, northerncountiesmcc.com) and to see SidecarKieths set-up first hand, he really does look after that...

The set off time of 10:00am soon came round and as we started to leave, it was a fine rain that was coming down but after Burnley, the weather took a turn for the better and it really was a good riding day.

We now know this route like back's of our hands, so the ride went well
(We hope that our visitor's thought so as well !!)
Two brew stops and some fantastic scenery later we arrived at the North-end of Blackpool, 12:30 pm and enough time for our ride of the Prom to Stargate to meet the MAG rally.

Arriving at Stargate always gives me reason to smile, just to see all those friendly faces and all with same cause (Just to enjoy the day and their ride)
Again we are ready to Ride the Prom, 13:00hrs and the cavalcade started to leave the car park, it took just over fifteen minutes for all to be on the road.

The holiday makers and day trippers were in for sight they never expected but as usual we got cheers and waves from most of them (NOT THE TAXI DRIVERS THOUGH !!) we gave the horses plenty of room so that we didn't upset them and their drivers and they thanked us with a nod and smile.
(Drivers Not the Horses,doh)

We left the Prom as we found it, ok, maybe just a little more confused but thats what we do anyway, just wait until NEXT YEAR, we hope to have more bikers with us !!

Back to the rally field, a fresh brew, a few beers for some and silly games, so if you are reading this and you weren't with us, WHY NOT ?????

To date the ride has gained the children just over FOURHUNDRED POUNDS with money still to come in and be counted, not bad for an enjoyable day out, doing what we like to do.

Whitworth Warriors, again would like to a BIG thankyou to all who took part, will we see you again next year, we hope so, the date will be :-

                       28th June 2008 !

The picture above is just the start of the get together, not to many pictures this year, we were all intent on enjoying the ride, we do have though about 16mins of video footage taken by our Vice Chair.
We will try and get it onto the site so you can all have a look, meanwhile the picture below was taken on the Prom.

24th June & Blackpool Charity Ride

The day started early for the "Warriors" around 06:30am, we had to get organised with Hi-Viz but mainly to get the Butty van in place !!!.
We had bikes arriving by 08:30am and then we started to relax and enjoy the atmosphere, by 10:00am there was nearly 70 bikes and trikes, at 10:30am we started our ride to Blackpool.

The ride was kept together well by the marshalls, with Nigel leading on the Goldwing, our trip took us through some of Gods own country..( I never tire of riding in this part of the world )

The convoy got to Cleveleys end of Blackpool and after a short stop, we did our first ride of the Golden Mile, ending at Starrgate to meet up with the MAG Rally (Fun & Frolics on the Fylde)
After a short stop to chat (And a Fag) we then followed the Bishop to cause Mayhem and Confusion ( We were well behaved really ! ) on the Mile with the Holiday makers and day trippers alike waving and shouting to us, it was good to see so many smiling faces.

When we returned to Starrgate, some people made their way home and to those we say THANK YOU FOR JOINING US, for the rest we had tents to pitch and couple of beers to down ready for the rally at Lytham
(It was hard work but we managed it JUST !)

The rally went well, the silly games got contestants wet and everybody enjoyed the
week-end, it was over to quickly, Sunday came and after a couple of mugs off hot tea/coffee we packed our gear and made a short trip into Blackpool before returning home.

Will you all be there next year, OF COURSE YOU WILL ! and thank you one and all for 2006

"WARRIORS" have to say,  we did miss you Sinbad, Malcom and Joey but hopefully next year we will all ride together !

Below are just a few pictures that were taken for us on the day, ....please ignore the date on a few of them, the camera's date wasn't set properly !!

Your date for 2007_ _ _ _ _ _ _Saturday the 23rd of June

Make sure you register for this one and get a sponsor form !

The picture above, shows us taking a short stop before the final leg into Blackpool.

The above picture is the result of everybodies hard but enjoyable work.

The "Warriors" delivered FOUR 14" TV/DVD combination's and TWO Midi Hi-Fi's, along with a selection of DVD disc's to DOYLE ward at Wythenshaw hospital on Friday night 21/07/06.

The patients had a bit of shock when a load of bikers walked onto their ward but were sooon chatting with us and made us welcome.

The nurse's do a fantastic job on the wards and we did maybe try to pull their legs a bit but they took it all in good fun and are real sports

Thanks again to all who made it possible
